What are you posting on Instagram and Twitter and how is it reflecting on you and your culture. As a blogger, I read many social networking pages by people of all colors and from many nations, to gauge public feedback on topics. There are times when I am impressed by what I read. However, there are also times when I am concerned by items posted online.
I’ve read posts by men cutting down and insulting women in very brutal terms, as a means of belittling and attempting to control. I’ve read posts containing items by men threatening to hit women, thinking it makes them look cool, in conduct that is entirely inappropriate.
However, women do not favor abrasive, arrogant, insulting men. Women also do not favor men bragging about their many sexual conquests online, showing off and trying to prove to certain men that they are masculine. Decent, intelligent men and women reading such items are not impressed. It only appeals to a small group of individuals, who do not understand women or how off putting such behavior is to people with sense.
Women prefer nice, decent men. It is a major turn off for most women reading items online by a man bragging about all his girlfriends and how promiscuous he is in life. It leads many decent women to write a man off who states such things. Only gold diggers and hookers don’t care about such things, because all they want is money and will scam you to get it.
I’ve seen pages on Twitter and Instagram, where men who show off about their sexual conquests and how stern they are with women, also wonder why good women don’t flock to them and why their cultural background is stereotyped. Look no further than what you state online.
People need to remember their words online are a reflection of them, their families and culture. People will judge you, your family and culture by your words and deeds, in attempting to ascertain who you are as a person. Going online and playing into every negative stereotype does not help matters. It’s also wise to remember potential employers and the police read social networking as well. Do not put yourself at a financial disadvantage or get yourself into unnecessary trouble. Set a positive example.
