What Are You Promoting Online?

There are several popular social media websites that give people a platform to voice their views. Some use it wisely. Some do not and to the detriment of those who follow their pages.  We should endeavor to promote and espouse good things online. There is so much negativity in the world. Do not add to the problem. Promote things that benefit society.

It is good to make people smile, laugh, think and peacefully fight for justice through your words.  However, promoting entertainment of a questionable nature is not beneficial to anyone’s soul. I make it a point not to promote entertainment, sports or political matters of an explicit or sacrilegious nature. I’ve given away free promo on my sites, but I try to ensure it is something that will not send the wrong message that contradicts my beliefs, morals and values.

Spreading negativity through hate speech that demeans, defames or slurs others is another issue that is the equivalent of spreading darkness in an already dark world that needs light…as in the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel that gives people hope.

There are promising people online who need to know they are loved and have a place in this world. They don’t need to be demeaned or pressured to feel they have to  be sexually vulgar and crass to be liked online.

So often I see people engage in demeaning stunts for attention on social networking and it harms their name with potential employers who do internet searches before hiring applicants. Once these items are placed on the internet, they also tend to stay there. Therefore, be careful what you put out there. Be a shining example of integrity and class.
