Pastor and police officer Garrett Swasey

44-year-old Christian co-pastor and police officer, Garrett Swasey, was killed after responding to an emergency dispatch call regarding a gun incident at the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood Clinic. Garrett was killed by criminally insane gunman, Robert Lewis Dear, who went on a rampage at the abortion clinic. His family and friends have remembered him in press articles as a kind and forgiving man. Dear also killed Iraq war veteran Ke’Arre Stewart, 29 and Jennifer Markovsy, 35.

I do not agree with abortion, as it goes against my Christian faith. However, trying to stop abortion by murdering others is unlawful, depraved and wrong. Dear’s deeds were not an act of self-defense. His actions were cold-blooded murder committed by a madman in the name of insanity.

As proof of Dear’s deteriorated mental state, he identified himself as a female, transgender, independent liberal on his voter registration card, when he is a clearly a man. Dear has serious mental problems that bear the traits of schizophrenia and were not addressed in time, leading to the terrible shooting at the clinic.

Criminally insane Robert Lewis Dear killed 3 people and injured 9 at the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood clinic.

Dear’s conduct again proves there are holes in the national gun check system allowing mentally ill people to purchase weapons. There have been many high profile shootings in America, a number on university campuses, where it was later revealed doctors had declared the shooter mentally ill, but due to a lack of timely and viable methods of connecting medical records with national gun background check systems, many mentally unfit people go under the radar. Not only should they have been denied the right to buy a gun, but institutionalized as well.

America needs gun control. Approximately 30,000 Americans die each year in non-police based shootings. That number is unacceptably high. Productive members of society are being lost to gun violence in acts that are preventable via the proper legislation being enacted and an overhaul of the gun background check system to sync them with medical records of individuals flagged as suffering from mental illness.

All Americans’ medical records would not need to be included in the database. Doctors offices could each be assigned a password protected user name and pin/password that requires medical professionals to refer patients’ names to the database, who meet the mental illness criteria that poses a danger to the public. This is the only viable solution that could decrease the number of gun related fatalities committed by mentally ill people, in the absence of gun control, with the latter being the best option.

Meet the Devout Christian Pastor and Police Officer Who Was One of the Planned Parenthood Shooting Victims

November 30, 2015 – Garrett Swasey, the 44-year-old police officer who was killed last week in a shooting at a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood clinic, was a devout Christian co-pastor who “believed in forgiveness” and “was there to save lives,” according to those who knew him.

“He might not be in alignment with [abortion], but he’d be willing to go in and lay down his life for those people, and that’s just the testimony to me of the kind of man that he is,” Hope Chapel co-pastor Scott Dontanville told CNN. “[He was] not just courageous, but Christlike.”

Swasey–a Massachusetts native and former nationally ranked figure skater who grew up skating with Olympic medalist Nancy Kerrigan–had been on the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs police force for six years when he was called to respond to reports of an active shooter at about 11:50 a.m. on Friday.

According to reports, Swasey, a father of two who was married to his wife Rachel for 17 years, raced 10 miles to the clinic after the call came in. He was one of the first responders on the scene…

Ted Cruz Defends Conservative Criticisms of Planned Parenthood After Shooting at Clinic

Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, chafing at the suggestion that conservative criticisms of Planned Parenthood might have played a role in the attack at a Colorado clinic on Friday, lashed out on Sunday at the “vicious rhetoric on the left, blaming those who are pro-life.”

Speaking to reporters in Newton, Iowa, Mr. Cruz said “we don’t fully know the motivations of this deranged individual” in the shooting, which killed three people and wounded nine.

Mr. Cruz added, without prompting, that the suspected gunman, Robert L. Dear Jr., was “registered to vote as a woman.” He suggested that there was “very little evidence” tying the shooting to anti-abortion sentiment, a cause frequently invoked by Mr. Cruz and his fellow Republicans in the presidential primary.

When a reporter cited news reports that Mr. Dear had said “no more baby parts” after he was apprehended, Mr. Cruz replied, “Well, it’s also reported that he was registered as an independent and as a woman and a transgender leftist activist.”
Aides to Mr. Cruz said he was not saying with certainty that the gunman was a “transgender leftist activist,” but rather highlighting how little was known about him definitively…
